Overview And Highlights

Chulu East Peak is one of the beautiful and popular Himalayan peaks situated high above the Manang valley. Nepal Mountaineering Association has categorized Chulu East as ‘trekking peak’. It has a long, defined North-East ridge which is considered a good route to approach its peak.

Chulu East offers breathtaking views of Annapurna I, II, III and IV, Gangapurna, Glacier Dome, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho peak and Manaslu as well as into Tibet to the north.
The trekking part of our advance towards Chulu East takes us through Annapurna region to Marshyangdi Valley, experiencing a wonderful variety of landscape, from the lower subtropical reaches to the upper valley with its terraced fields and rhododendron and pine forests.

The summit was first climbed by a German expedition in 1955. The approach to base camp is from the village of Manang and the common route to the summit is via the North-East Ridge.  Most climbers make it to the top and back from Base Camp in one long day. Base Camp will be fixed on a high moraine at 5334m. The actually climbing involve glacial crossing, snow walking, and climbing steep scree slopes.

You should be physically fit and have some apline climbing experience to climb Chulu East. Skills in using crampons, harness, ice axe, tying knots and handling climbing ropes is and advantage. However, Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition will offer you a team of highly skilled and trained high altitude climbers and Sherpas to tackles this mountain.
